At the next meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was listened the report on commission of new version of the ANAS web-portal, www.science.az.
“Action Plan for the informatization of Central Administration” adopted on July 3, 2013 by the Presidium of ANAS, along with other tasks were envisaged for the development of a new version of the portal www.science.az.
The new version was presented by academician, academician-secretary Rasim Alguliyev, who reminded that the first portal of academic science appeared in the country in 1995 at address www.ab.az, the second one in 2003 at address www.science.az, and now its third version has been developed with the latest technologies. “Not having analogues in Azerbaijan, mega portal www.science.az comprises approximately 15,000 pages in Azerbaijan, Russian and English and is an information system that has a large information base and tremendous search capabilities” Alguliyev said. The distinguishing feature of the new version of the portal is that its main page contains ElmTV window. This window is posted video-information on important research activities conducted in the Academy and live coverage of these activities is carried out. Portal www.science.az quickly, widely and objectively highlights and promotes achievements in the scientific development and state’s reforms in science, conforming to the requirements of new time. The diverse activity of the Academy of Sciences is open to domestic and world public opinion through the portal. “In 2014 it was registered about 1.5 million hits to the portal” Alguliyev emphasized.
Experts of IIT applied the latest technologies, provided new version of a portal more widely and various information on the separate scientific organizations.
In summary, academician-secretary of ANAS, academician Rasim Alguliyev noted that, the ANAS Presidium tasked the maintenance of website www.science.az to the Department of Public Relations & Promotion of Science of ANAS Presidium Administration.
Oversight the implementation of the decree was entrusted to the vice-president of ANAS, academician Ibrahim Guliyev.
