In the organization of successful cooperation between the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan (ANAS) and the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) in the field of science, innovation and education, the main role is played by research, financial and intermediary structures, as well as universities of both countries.
ANAS and RAS are carrying out work related to the organization of joint activities aimed at the active participation of research and educational institutions of Azerbaijan and Russia in these areas.
Today, as part of the visit to Azerbaijan of the delegation headed by the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Alexander Sergeev, the "Azerbaijan-Russia Roadmap for Cooperation in Science, Innovation and Education" was signed between ANAS and RAS.

The purpose of the "Azerbaijan-Russia Roadmap for Cooperation in Science, Innovation and Education" is to continue the joint promotion of advanced scientific and technological research, identify priority scientific areas relevant to both countries, support young scientists and talents, optimize the mobility of scientists, as well as the integration of science, innovation and education into society and the economy of both countries.
The document covers four areas: "Joint advanced scientific and technological research", "Priority scientific directions relevant for both countries", "Providing support to young scientists and talents, optimizing the mobility of scientists" and "Science, innovation and education as a means of integration into society and the economy".
Within the framework of existing national and international agreements, the scientific structures of Russia and Azerbaijan plan to intensify and expand their activities in the field of advanced areas of science and technology development. The organizations are aimed at joint participation in European scientific projects, and also encourage research teams of both countries to develop joint research projects based on the European framework programs in the field of science, innovation and education.
Important measures that are planned to be implemented are the intensification, with the participation of scientific and educational structures, of joint work related to promising and priority research, development and technological fields, support for joint scientific research through bilateral programs and initiatives.
The document notes that the exchange of students, young scientists and specialists of research and educational institutions is a significant contribution to the development of scientific research in priority areas, and also creates an opportunity to increase competitiveness in the future, reliable cooperation and mutual understanding.
Within the framework of cooperation between the two structures, work will be carried out on the development of academic mobility and the creation of dual degree programs using the capabilities of national and international programs.
The Roadmap also emphasizes the strategic importance of developing ties between science and society and supports joint initiatives in this area. Within the framework of cooperation between ANAS and RAS, it is planned to hold scientific forums, conferences, symposiums and seminars and combine efforts to solve important scientific problems.
