Institute of Physiology enhances international ties

Institute of Physiology of ANAS enhances international ties in the sphere of gerontology. Meeting was held with president of European Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, corresponding member of RAMS Vladimir Khavinson and professor, deputy director for clinical researches of the Saint Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, Northwest branch of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Svetlana Trofimova who are on mission to our country by invitation of director of the Institute of Physiology, Dr. Biology Ulduz Hashimova.

In the meeting held on May 12 at Central Scientific Library, U. Hashimova informed the guests on the state-of-the-art of gerontological researches in Azerbaijan and development outlooks.

Later on, were listened lectures on “The expansion perspectives of human activity resources” by prof. V. Khavinson and “Modern diagnostics of premature aging and anti-aging technologies” by prof. S.Trofimova. Guests highlighted that problem of longevity is of great importance for Azerbaijan Republic and unique base exist there for relevant researches.

Meetings scheduled the issue of establishing Azerbaijan Gerontology Society and accept it to the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics as well. In addition, contract was signed on “Aging physiology” among ANAS Institute of Physiology, RAS Gerontology Society, Institute of Physiology named after I.P. Pavlov, and St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology.
