Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

As known, On November of 2013 Baku International Humanitarian Forum was held. Nobel Prize Winner, George Smut attended the forum, visited Institute of Physics, got acquainted with activity of the institute and carried out exchange of views via scientists. Then, he solicited for acad. Akif Alizadeh  and proposed the execution of 5 year of project on developing biophysics and Condensed Matter Physics in Azerbaijan. G. Smut’s request and arguments were analyised and accepted. Taking into account existence of equipment experience and modern academic-technical capacity, Institute of Biophysics and Smart Materials to be established attached to Institute of Physics.

Note that, Institute of Biophysics and Smart Materials is keen to develop nano-particles of various types and sizes for targeted drug delivery, to study links between structure-dynamics in functional proteins.

Given all, ANAS Presidium made several decisions. ANAS Department of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences was charged to solicit for govermential management due to establishing Institute of Biophysics and Smart Materials.

Oversight of the decision was entrusted to ANAS president, acad. Akif Alizadeh.
