Final match and closing ceremony of II Football Championship of ANAS Council of Young Scientists and Specialists dedicated to the National Leader Heydar Aliyev's birthday was held with support of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists, Business Affairs and the Free Trade Union of National Academy of Sciences.
At the final match the team of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics met with the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography. Team of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography was the winner of the championship.
At the award ceremony the President of ANAS, academician Akif Alizadeh congratulated team members stressed the importance of the championship, which takes place for the second time, and noted the development of sport in Azerbaijan at the state level.
Noting the dynamic development of this sector in the country, in particular sports culture day by day, the head of ANAS estimated the construction of various sports facilities in districts and cities of the country, the creation of the National Olympic Committee as a prime example of state attention to this area.
Akif Alizadeh noted that, Azerbaijan which is the owner of various international events and prestigious sporting events on a high level preparing for the first European Games "Baku - 2015", which will be held in our country in the upcoming days.
Chairman of the Council of young scientists and researchers, PhD in physics Famin Salmanov informed that the championship that began on April 27 of this year was attended by 17 teams. He expressed gratitude to the Academy for their support.
Then the teams were awarded. Team of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography took first place, the team of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics - the second, team of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics - third place.
The members of the winning teams were awarded with medals, diplomas and cash prizes. In the championship awarding was over categories "Best Player", "Best Goalkeeper". Striker of Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Elton Guliyev and the goalkeeper of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of Muhammad Abdullayev were deserved to these awards.
