“Role of ANAS, Council of Elders and young scientists in social-political life of the country” event devoted to 92nd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev was held co-organized by ANAS and Council of Elders, May 26.

Opening the meeting ANAS president acad. Akif Alizadeh spoke about many branched activity of national leader, and reminded his merits in creating statehood traditions of Azerbaijan, strengthening economic-political principles, and increasing democratic image. Measures devoted to 92nd anniversary of national leader have been taken not only in the republic, but also in abroad.

During the years when Heydar Aliyev led to Azerbaijan, as in every sphere of country, prosperity was observed in ANAS as well. Events were carried out due to increasing academic and staff training. Guiding by national leader’s suggestions, decisions were made on implementing reforms in Academy, identifying directions of research works and creating scientific-organizing base, he added.

Later on, chairman of the Council of Elders, MP Fattah Heydarov delivered a lecture on “National leader Heydar Aliyev is the founder of independent Azerbaijan. Republican elders’ role in social-political life”. Sharing his opinions on rich and varied activity of great leader, lecturer noted high respectable and prestige of elders’ in society through history.

After national leader’s return to power, elders’ role has been increased in all areas of community. Currently, Council of Elders main tasks are protection of national and moral values, prevalence of high human qualities such as the purity and justice in society. Simultaneously, Council of Elders realizes various projects and holds meetings, said F. Heydarov.

Vice-president of ANAS, acad. Isa Habibbayli made a presentation on “Role of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences in social-political life of the Republic of Azerbaijan”. Making speech on meetings of national leader with Azerbaijan scientists, academician stated that, leader always touched upon stable challenges of Azerbaijan science and proposed scholars to engage in strategic issues useful for nation. In addition, academician retell on national leader’s performance in order to study and teach Azerbaijan history, literature and culture, investigate various problems, recognize personalities who had merits in the fields of history, culture and literature, and perpetuate their names, since the first days of the coming to power.

Afterwards, reporting in the event academician-secretary of ANAS, acad. Rasim Alguliyev noted that, recently developed information-communication technologies which is the leading force of systematic policy covering science, education and economy has shifted into the consistent part of social-economic ties. As a part of this policy, prevalence of information technologies sector in Azerbaijan is associated with the name of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Chairman of ANAS Young Scientist and Specialists Council, PhD in physics Famin Salmanov told about the role of young scientists in social-political life of the country. He also dealt with national leader’s merits in formation of the Azerbaijan youth as a high intellectual leading force. Overall support for youth policy is the contamination of Heydar Aliyev’s policy and it’s reflected in Concept on the youth by President Ilham Aliyev. Creating Youth Foundation under President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, establishing Presidential Prize for the Youth and realization of such of vital projects is based on fundamental principles of Heydar Aliyev's policy. Collaboration of Azerbaijanian young scientist via leading academic centers of the world, representing Azerbaijan in the international events are the achievements of Azerbaijan youth and Heydar Aliyev’ legacy, noted F. Salmanov.

Deputy chair of the Council of Elders acad. Teymur Bunyadov, People poet Zalimkhan Yagub and others shared their opinions on Heydar Aliyev.
