“Nadir shah Afshar: diplomatic correspondence” book presented

Chief of Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan acad. Ramiz Mehdiyev presented his “Nadir shah Afshar: diplomatic correspondence” book at Presidium of ANAS, May 27.

Meeting was opened by ANAS president, acad. Akif Alizadeh who spoke about the significance of the book and highlighted it s a perfect art piece created by patriot author. “Nadir shah Afshar: diplomatic correspondence” book is a vital source in terms of study the Ruler with Turkic origin. This book contains Nadir Shah's murdering as a result of suicide and just after this incident accelerated the disintegration of the Azerbaijani lands, he noted.

Later, vice-president acad. Isa Habibbayli provided information about “Nadir shah Afshar: diplomatic correspondence” book and stated that, after gaining independence, investigating perennial history of Azerbaijan, great historical events and notable figures, including publishing and delivering them to further generations are of importance. Huge fulfillments in this direction which have been begun during the Soviet period by Heydar Aliyev continued over his second governance in sequence. 

Today, we have a presentation of "Nadir Shah Afshar: diplomatic correspondence" new history book by academician Ramiz Mehdiyev further enriching work and completion of the works of historiography. In advance book compiles Nadir shah’s biography and portrays him as historical figure. His Turkic origin has been identified and proved as well.

Edition presents Nadir shah Afshar not only as a military commander, but also state figure implementing reforms in economy, migration and in other areas: "In particular, it is the new important steps in order to restudy this figure that was tried to falsify and shadowed by Armenian authors”.

Noted that, book investigates Nadir shah’s respect to Turkic states and their rulers, also uncovers the Ottoman’s fake image which has created artificially about him. Nadir shah Afshar lived for 59 years and ruled over 11 years.

Book dealt with Nadir shah Afshar’s correspondence with different countries and art of diplomacy is a substantial source in terms of learning Azerbaijan statehood, noted vice-president of ANAS.

Responsible person of the Presidential Administration Eldar Amirov delivered acad. Ramiz Mehdiyev’s greetings to event attendees. He noted that, translation of Nadir shah’s correspondence into Azerbaijani attaches importance in the edition. There was a need to dispel stereotypes about Shah Ismayil Khatai, Aga Muhammad shah Gajar, Nadir shah Afshar etc. after gaining independence. There are attempts to detract their merits for Azerbaijan statehood and trying to present them as Iranian rulers. Need to know what was the language of the primary sources even it is not possible to put forward valuable artifacts. Numerous experts operate in ANAS and I sure they will hold researches in this field, he added.

Director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov, director of the Institute of Oriental Studies corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, director of the Institute of World Policy, prof. Musa Gasimli and others brought to mind the essence of the book elucidating the dark pages of history.
