Academician-secretary of ANAS, director of ANAS Institute of Information Technology, academician Rasim Alguliyev  attended at the international conferences and in a number of meetings held in Porto, Portugal.

Academician Rasim Alguliyev attended at the meeting of General Assembly of GEANT Association and TERENA Networking Conference on 15-19 June 2015.

The Network TERENA conference organized by the GEANT Association is considered the largest and most prestigious conference on research and education networks in Europe.

In the annual conference was attended by more than 650 professionals. The Conference brought together all the leading European network of organizations, supreme educational institutions, networking specialists, experts, and representatives of the industrial sector.

Participants of the event along with the scientific and technical spheres were informed about the latest developments in applied research networks and management areas.

The main topics were identified - Processing of big data (Big Data), cloud computing (Cloud), the scientific sphere, based on the big data, a global Eduroam, between the mainland network, multi-domain network, programmed network (SDN), and information security and data distribution.

GEANT is the association that brings together 36 national research and education networks in Europe.

With official support of the appropriate governmental bodies of Azerbaijan (ANAS, Ministry of Communications and high technologies, Ministry of Education) in GEANT Association and its projects our country is represented by ANAS Institute of Information Technology.

In order to create a regional network on science and education, uniting the European countries and the connection of these countries in e-science infrastructure in Europe, at the initiative and under the coordination of the Association of GEANT, the European Commission has decided to finance the project EaPConnect (Eastern Partnership Connect).

The main purpose of the project is to create the electronic scientific infrastructure uniting all countries in the region of the Eastern Partnership and to give opportunities over 2 million to scientific, young researchers, to establish to teachers and students closer cooperation with the European Union.

In the project it is proposed to increase the speed of connection of group of the member countries of the Eastern Partnership to GEANT from 11.5 Gbit / with to 63 Gbit / with which by 5 times exceeds the existing speed.
