ANAS President received Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan

President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh received the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Tsuguo Takahashini on July 15, 2015.

The main goal of the meeting held at ANAS Presidium was to discuss the prospects of cooperation between research institutions of ANAS and Japan.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, academician-secretary of ANAS, Academician Rasim Alguliev, head of International Relations department of ANAS Presidium, PhD on geological-mineralogical sciences Gulam Babayev, Head of Department of Innovation, PhD in Agrarian Sciences Vugar Babayev, acting Academician-secretary of Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov and head of the Department of Public Relations and science popularization of ANAS Presidium Administration Zulfuqar Farzaliyev.

First, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh informed the guest about the structure and main activities of the Academy. Noting the significant improvement in the management and organization of ANAS, A.Alizadeh told about the research and innovation projects carried out in the priority research areas.

Head of ANAS stated that, in recent years have been achieved the important scientific results in the petrochemical field by domestic scientists and made a significant contribution to world science.

Noted that, our country is rich with oil and gas resources, already more than 100 years are successfully carried out oil production.

A.Alizade brought to the attention of visitors that 350 of 1500 mud volcanoes of the world are located on the territory of Azerbaijan, and presented to Ambassador the atlas, prepared by geologists of the Academy on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of ANAS.

Announced of special attention to the innovative scientific directions in ANAS for the last 3 years, scientist informed on activity of Department of the Innovations and Experimental-Industrial Plant founded attached to Academy.

Having informed the Ambassador on holding of 70th anniversary of ANAS, A. Alizadeh invited him to take part in anniversary event which will take place in November of the current year.

Head of ANAS, bringing to the forefront the importance of studying of Japan experience in the field of seismological science, proposed the creation of joint research laboratories in this field.

In turn, Mr. T.Takahashini told about innovative activities undertaken in his country in the field of restructuring and development of the Japanese economy.

The ambassador highly appreciated establishment of scientific cooperation with ANAS, and noted that he will give necessary help of Academy in this area.

Reported about basic scientific researches in the field of seismology and volcanoes that carried out in Japan, guest emphasized the importance of participation of the Azerbaijani scientists in joint researches.

Within the meeting also was discussed the study of the Japanese experience in the field of innovation policy, participation of ANAS employees in scientific research in this country, including the establishment of the Science and Technology Park on the basis of Experimental-Industrial Plant of ANAS.
