Italian scientists together with Azerbaijani colleagues are studying the isotopic and chemical composition of underground water and gases in Gadabay and Dashkesan.

For this purpose on September 7 in Azerbaijan from University of Florence under the Italian National Research Centre (NRCI) arrived Professor Franco Tassi, assistant professor Federico Sani and researcher Maria Laura Balestier. They will carry out joint field studies together with the head of Department of "Fluid dynamics of sedimentary basins" of ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics (IGG), corresponding member of ANAS Akbar Feyzullayev and head of "Radiometry geological environment" Department of IGG, corresponding member of ANAS Chingiz Aliyev.

Within the framework of works that will continue for one week, yields on natural mineral and thermal waters and their accompanying gas will be carried out geological and analytical studies as well as sampled water and gases for further isotopic and geochemical analyzes in Italy.

The purpose of research is based on the study of geological conditions and characteristics of isotopic and geochemical composition of thermal waters and gases (radon, helium, argon, hydrocarbons and carbon dioxide) to determine their origin.

Works are carried out under a joint research project of ANAS and the CNR (2014-2015 gg.) "Manifestations of fluids in the eastern part of the Greater Caucasus and Talysha: Fluid geochemistry, structural and geodynamic control."
