V Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking states took place in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, attended the Summit.
Speaking at the summit, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said that throughout the history Turkic-speaking peoples has made significant progress together. He mainstreamed the importance of further strengthening efforts for establishment of peace and stability in the region, the active representation of the Turkic Council in the international structures, as well as the need to further intensifying activities in the field of the Common Turkic TV channel.
President Ilham Aliyev said that the basis of cooperation of Turkic-speaking countries are our common history, a common culture and ethnic roots. Speaking about the plans related to the humanitarian sphere, in this regard, the President praised the work of TURKSOY, which brings together all the Turkic peoples.
President of Azerbaijan expressed confidence that common television channel for a short time will release at an international audience and become a channel of great interest, reflecting our policy: "Today of information security has a special place in the world, and each country must be ready for it. We must ensure that our information security, as well as to bring to the world the truth about our country."
The event highlighted the importance of further expansion of cooperation between the Turkic states in the field of economy, science, education, technology and other areas and appreciated in this context the role of the Turkic Academy.
Note that President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh attended in the V Summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries as well.
