President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh met with the delegation headed by the Chairman of the experiment “ALİCE”, European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN), Professor Paolo Ciubellino.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the prospects of cooperation between ANAS and CERN.

The meeting was attended by the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, Acting Academician-secretary of Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov and chairman of the National Centre for Nuclear Research, Academician Adil Garibov.

Academician Akif Alizadeh informed the participants about the structure and main activities of the Academy, spoke about the ties of cooperation between ANAS and CERN. Emphasizing the interest of Azerbaijan scientists in the European experience in the field of nuclear research, the head of ANAS expressed its confidence in the effectiveness of further bilateral cooperation.

Professor Paolo Ciubellino gave detailed information on the activities of the European Nuclear Research Centre and its relations with Azerbaijan, as well as ”ALİCE” experiment center. He invited the delegation headed by Academician Akif Alizadeh pay a visit to the European Centre for Nuclear Research in April 2016.

At the meeting it was agreed to prepare a protocol of intentions between ANAS and CERN.
