Today, regular meeting of the Presidium of ANAS was held. Lecture on "LIDAR, and the prospects of its practical application in Azerbaijan" by the rector of the National Aviation Academy, Academician Arif Pashayev, Director of the Research Institute of Transport and Aerospace Problems of the Academy, Academician Bahadur Tagiyev, the chief researcher of the same institute, PhD in Physics Kerim Allahverdiyev was listened in the meeting.

The lecture submitted by Kerim Allahverdiyev noted that for the first time prepared in the National Aviation Academy of Azerbaijan LIDAR was installed as part of the project "Monitoring of environmental pollution during oil and gas operations on the basis of modern methods." The purpose of the project is aimed at the production and development of fluorescence LIDAR, designed for remote sensing of oil products, chemicals and drilling fluids that come to the surface of land and water in the process of oil and gas.

According to the speaker, with the participation of employees of the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic LIDAR has been tested in the oil overpass Office for oil and gas in the village of Absheron Pirallahi. Oil contamination on the surface of the sea water has been successfully registered.

K.Allahverdiev, stressing the important role to play in maintaining the purity of the LIDAR and monitoring neighborhoods, he gave information about the prospects for the use of LIDAR in Azerbaijan in various spheres. He advanced to the forefront of importance in determining the characteristics of LIDAR aerosol in the atmosphere. K. Allahverdiev also noted the importance of the use of LIDAR for diagnostic purposes of earthquakes during 15 years in the world, so its application attaches great importance in Azerbaijan.

According to the decision of the Presidium of ANAS, the results of research into the use of LIDAR in recent years in the National Aviation Academy have been positively evaluated. In order to expand research into LIDAR, Department of Physical Mathematical and Technical Sciences to prepare and submit to the Presidium of ANAS projects of "LIDAR earthquake" and "aerosol LIDAR".

Monitoring the implementation of decisions is entrusted to the academician-secretary of Department of Physical, Mathematical and Technical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov.
