Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

Professor of Hacettepe University, Dr. Biology Ali Aslan Donmez and PhD student Zubeyda Aydin Ugurlu visited ANAS Institute of Botany.

Guests were informed on the development prospects of herbarium Foundation of the institute and collaboration directions during the meeting with Director of the Institute of Botany, corresponding member of ANAS Valida Alizadeh. Discussions have been carried out on exchange of experience between institute and university, mutual projects and signing of an agreement of cooperation.

While visit expeditions were organized to various botanical-geographical regions (Northern part of Great Caucasus, Gobustan, Northern part of Minor Caucasus) of Azerbaijan with participation of the chief of Herbarium Foundation, PhD in Biology P.Garakhani, senior researcher PhD in Biology A.Huseynova, chief of the Department of Embryophyte PhD in Biology V. Karimov, deputy director of ANAS Central Botanical Garden for scientific affairs PhD in Biology V.Farzaliyev and Turkish botanists. During expeditions, researches held on plant samples of Pyrus, Crataegus and Cotoneaster.

At the end of visit Prof. Ali A. Donmez delivered an important lecture on topic “Modern taxonomy and phylogeny of tribasic Maleate Roseceace family in the Northwestern Asia”.
