Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The regular meeting of the Board of Directors of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) was held. The meeting was attended by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh, Vice-president, and Academician-secretary of the scientific departments, directors of scientific institutions and senior officials of the Presidium of ANAS.

Opening the event Academician Akif Alizadeh introduced the issues on the agenda. Noting that the preparatory work on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Academy completed, head of ANAS spoke on the results of admission to the master's degree course of educational process, improving the process of admission to doctoral and delivery of doctoral examinations, etc.

Academician added that in order to enroll in doctoral studies, it is necessary to know English at least at the level of TOEFL. He also added that, organization of master studies in ANAS should be different from the educational process at in other universities. Young staff studying at the Academy should be able to participate in international conferences, seminars and symposiums.

At the event, Academician Akif Alizadeh expressed their profound concerns about the issue of extra-budgetary financing of ANAS. He noted that the Academy is trying to obtain extra budgetary funds for the formation of new research directions, and it creates opportunities for innovative proposals to associate with the business. Therefore, leaders of scientific institutions have a great responsibility and care be taken to training in new areas.

Reminding that on the basis of 7 institutions of ANAS organized training program for Magistrates, Academician noted that next year Master's degree will be provided in 15 institutions.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the differentiation of wages of employees of ANAS, members of the Academy of obtaining patents and the implementation of the "Horizon 2020".

At the conclusion of the event heads of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS spoke about the issues discussed, voiced their proposals.
