Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

The expanded meeting of the Presidium of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) devoted to discussion of research priorities advanced by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the General Meeting held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of ANAS.

At the event delivered the paper on "The expansion of research in the social sciences and humanities connected with the study of scientific and theoretical foundations and the definition of the fundamental directions of the concept of multiculturalism" by Academician-Secretary of the Department of Human Sciences, Academician Teymur Kerimli, which was articulated around the President Ilham Aliyev's ideas.

Academician noted that the speech of President Ilham Aliyev at the celebration of the 70th anniversary, which bears the character of the program nature, put in front of all the scientists of the country, including to representatives of humanitarian scientific fields crucial tasks.

Teymur Kerimli stressed that by its tolerance and multicultural traditions of the Azerbaijani people throughout history is an example to other nations, resulting in a mutual enrichment of cultures.

Teymur Kerimli noted that, in the sphere of research of the Azerbaijani model of multiculturalism humanitarian and social sciences of Azerbaijan are faced by such actual tasks as studying of definitions which are given to multiculturalism on a global scale, and their scientific objectivity; studying of various models of multiculturalism and their shortcomings for each country; criticism of the theory of integration into prepotent culture which is applied in various countries; research of the Azerbaijani multiculturalism and its historical and theoretical aspects; scientific justification of lack of alternative of multiculturalism and a role of the Azerbaijani model in this sphere; studying of dangers which are created for future all mankind by denial of multicultural values; research and justification of that multiculturalism is not only mezhetnosny, but also and interpersonal process; identification of the priority directions of further development of multiculturalism, etc.
