Academician Kamal Abdullayev is 65

On December 4, will be marked 65th anniversary of State Advisor on Multinational, Multicultural and Religious Affairs of AR, Honored Scientist, Academician Kamal Mehdi oglu Abdullayev.

Academician Kamal Abdullayev was born in Baku city, 1950. Finished secondary school N 190 in 1968, graduated from Azerbaijan State University department of philology in 1968-1973.

He has been post-graduate of Azerbaijan SSR Academy of Sciences in 1973-76. In 1977, defended PhD thesis on topic “Syntactic parallelism (According to the language of Kitani-Dede Gorgud” epos) in Moscow, doctoral thesis on “Theoretic problems of syntax in Azerbaijani language” in Baku, 1984.

Since 1990 K. Abdullayev is a chairman of Azerbaijan Creativity Foundation (former Azerbaijan Culture foundation), member of Union of the Theatre Workers at Board of Azerbaijan Writers’ Union.

Scientist’ works are being known in abroad as well. His novels (“The incomplete manuscript "," Wizards’ valley”, “There's no one to forget ... ") have been translated into several languages and published in the U.S., France, Austria, Russia, Turkey, Brazil, Poland, Egypt etc countries. He is a founder of texting linguistics in Azerbaijan.

In 2000, Kamal Abdullayev was defined chancellor to the Baku Slavic University, established on the base of Azerbaijan Pedagogical Russian language and Literature Institute, and worked in this post up to 2014. He chaired for Department of Humanities and Social Sciences of ANAS during 2011-2014.

Was elected corresponding member of ANAS in 2007, while active member in 2014.

Academician was defined State Adviser on Multinational, Multicultural and Religious Affairs of AR pursuant to Decree by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated February 28, 2014.

Scientist was awarded the “Pushkin" Medal of the Russian Federation in 2007, "Humay" National Award, “Novel of the Year" prize by 525th newspaper, “Literary man of the year” by Monitoring Group in 2009, "Karl Kramej” medal in 2009 by the Republic of Poland President Lech Kaczynski for his role in the development of relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic, “Dede-Gorgud National Award” by Foundation of Dede Gorgud in 2010, Gold medal “Son of motherland”, “The last 10 years of literary work "Award by 3rd Nasimi National Literature Competition in 2010 for “The unfinished manuscript" novel, and the highest award of the University of Sofia in 2013 - "Blue Ribbon Medal of Honor".

We congratulate notable scientist on the occasion of 65th anniversary, wish him long life, robust health and successes in development of Azerbaijan science.
