Bakutel 2015, the Azerbaijan international telecommunications and IT exhibition, the largest ICT event in the region, will open its doors on 2 December at Baku Expo Center. A press conference dedicated to the opening of the event held today.

The Ministry of Communications and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs (Employers) Organisations of the Azerbaijan Republic (ASK) are providing support for the exhibition. The organizers of the event are Iteca Caspian and Caspian Event Organisers (CEO).

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizadeh said Bakutel exhibition will be held on December 2-5 this year, noting that the composition of the exhibition becomes more diverse and the number of participants is increasing from year to year.

The Deputy Minister noted that the meetings at Bakutel exhibition, the availability of new cooperation opportunities is of great interest for both local and foreign companies. This year the visitors of Bakutel exhibition will have the opportunity to see many interesting technological innovations. Along with projects, products and services introduced by global companies, as well as the latest innovations in Azerbaijan’s ICT sector will be demonstrated. Detailed information on work done in the field of e-government, the current situation and prospects of the development in the field of innovative development, areas of nuclear research and nanotechnology will be provided at the pavilion of the Ministry of Communications and High Technologies.”

Elmir Velizadeh said that along with the demonstration of new technologies, various quizzes, training and seminars will be organized for exhibition visitors:

“A contest International “Cisco IT Battle” for IT professionals will also be held by Company Cisco. The contest will take place at Bakutel exhibition for the first time on the international level. It will be an opportunity for our IT specialists to demonstrate their level of knowledge globally. At the same time, various trainings are planned to be held at the same stand for two days (4-5 December). It is expected that the number of Bakutel exhibition visitors will exceed 10,000 people.”

Noting several international events will be held within the framework of Bakutel exhibition, Elmir Velizadeh said the 3rd Regional Internet Governance Forum will be held with the joint organizational support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Baku Office. Moreover, it is also planned to hold a one-day event in the field of standardization jointly with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Speaking on behalf of the organizers of Bakutel exhibition and conference, Edward Strachan said this year’s exhibition will bring together 203 companies from 21 countries. Noting 15 percent of them are new attendees of Bakutel exhibition, Strachan said for the first time this year the exhibition is attended by such leading global companies like Google, Kaspersky Lab and others.
