Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The decisive matches of the Football Championship of the Academy employees and the awarding ceremony of the winners were held on May 24 with the organization of the Free Trade Union of ANAS and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS.

In the final match, a team from the Republican Seismic Survey Center won the championship by defeating the united team of the Institutes of Literature named after Nizami Ganjavi, History and Ethnology named after Abbasgulu Agha Bakikhanov, and Law and Human Rights.

In the match for third place, a united team of Administration of the Presidium of ANAS, “Elm” publishing house, and Central Scientific Library won the bronze medal by defeating a team from the Institute of Archeology and Anthropology.

The awarding ceremony was held after the matches in the stadium located in the Academic Town. Academician Isa Habibbeyli, president of ANAS, members of the Presidium of ANAS, chairman of the Free Trade Union of ANAS, PhD in political sciences, Sanan Hasanov, directors of the scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS, chairmen of the Trade Unions, young scientists and fans of the teams participated in the ceremony.

Delivering his speech at the ceremony academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the state care in Azerbaijan to the development of sports and events realized by National Leader and President Ilham Aliyev in this field. The President of ANAS said that the football championship was a part of the social and cultural events and effective use of leisure time of the employees of the Academy. He noted that the employees of ANAS had opportunities to demonstrate their skills and capabilities besides their scientific activities, for that reason, the exhibitions of paintings by the employees of ANAS and other events had been organized in the academy.

The president of ANAS expressed his gratitude to the Free Trade Union of ANAS and the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS for the high-level organization of the football championship and transparency.

Afterward, academician Isa Habibbeyli presented a championship cup and medals to Azer Isgandarov, captain of the football team of the Republican Seismic Survey Center. The certificates, medals, and cash prizes were also presented to the second and third-place winners.
