On October 2, within the 10th Baku International Book Fair dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, an international scientific conference titled “The Sun of Classical Azerbaijani Poetry - Mahammad Fuzuli” was held in the conference hall of the Baku Expo Center, jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Library.
The director of the National Library of Azerbaijan, Professor Karim Tahirov opened the event by welcoming the guests. He noted that the main goal of this international scientific conference, dedicated to the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, is to promote the poet’s works worldwide, discuss the publications and talk about the libraries where his manuscripts are located.
Making a speech at the event, the president of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli noted that numerous events have been held to convey more detailed information about Fuzuli's heritage in the country and world community, in accordance with the order of the head of state on the celebration of the 530th anniversary of the great Azerbaijani poet Mahammad Fuzuli. The Academician emphasized that Fuzuli, by origin, is Azerbaijani and his language is Azerbaijani-Turk. As the National Leader Heydar Aliyev also stated, Fuzuli is a figure who united the Turkic peoples.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli underlined that the international scientific conference was held on the occasion of the great poet's anniversary, with the joint organization of the Presidium of ANAS, Humanitarian Sciences and Social Sciences Divisions and the Iraq-Azerbaijan Friendship Society. He also said that Azerbaijani scientists participated in “Fuzuli Days” events held in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The head of ANAS noted that within the action plan on the anniversary of Mahammad Fuzuli, the Academy will organize conferences dedicated to Mahammad Fuzuli together with Gazi University of Türkiye and Kirkuk University of Iraq.
He noted that such events, as well as research on the life and works of the poet, serve as a kind of report by the Academy to the scientific community, both nationally and internationally, on the eve of the 530th anniversary of Mahammad Fuzuli's birth.
Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov, People's Writer Anar, director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia, Professor Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, deputy director of the National Széchényi Library of Hungary, Judit Gerencsér, director of the Institute of Manuscripts named after M.Fuzuli, Academician Teymur Karimli, head of the Department of the Institute of Literature of ANAS named after N.Ganjavi, Professor Farida Azizova, director of the Atatürk Center in Azerbaijan, Academician Nizami Jafarov and chairman of the Science and Education Committee of the Milli Majlis, Professor Anar Isgandarov made speeches at the event, touching upon the literary and artistic works of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli and emphasized the significance of the day.
Within the International Book Fair, an exposition titled “Mahammad Fuzuli 530” was opened.
The exposition features works by the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Mahammad Fuzuli, including his manuscripts, lithographs, and other books.
