Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

ANAS Institute of Geology and Geophysics held event on topic “Science promotion in mass media”. Event aimed to discuss popularizing of Azerbaijan science, its promotion in mass media and high level of organization of these deals. 

Event organized by Department of Public Relations and Science Popularization of the Presidium Administration of ANAS was attended by responsible people to public relations at the institutes of academy.

Opening the event President of ANAS Acad. Akif Alizadeh highlighted the importance of obtained achievements in science, delivering it to the public, and high-level of organization of these deals. Making speech on role of mass media in science promotion A.Alizadeh noted the significance of scientific journalism as one of the vital areas of journalism and the need of growing professionals in this sphere. He underlined tasks of scientific journalists in making scientific news, materials and articles in a popular language.

Being a special area scientific journalism is a unity of journalism and science, noted ANAS president and challenged the journalists for more efficient lighting the emerged innovations, innovative projects and implemented events in science and promote Azerbaijan science at the highest level.

Later on, Academician-secretary of ANAS, Acad. Rasim Alguliyev reported and stated that, e-information agencies, newspapers, news web-sites and portals, including Internet-radio and Internet-TV channels, in one word are major means of mass media in data delivering. Academician stressed out that, science.gov.az portal has been promoting Azerbaijan science and domestic scientists’ activity for 20 years.

Highlighting the importance of meeting with journalists, R.Alguliyev noted the need of prompt realization of information exchange, further development of web-sites of the institute and organizations of ANAS and highly setting up PR policy. Scientist also brought to mind that, ANAS Institute of Information Technology is going to host training on creation and governance of web-sites of the institute and organizations of ANAS.

Head of Department of Public Relations and Science Popularization of the Presidium Administration of ANAS Zulfugar Farzaliyev also made speech in the event and asked responsible people for PR at the institute and organizations of ANAS to elucidate successes of science, academic knowledge, activities of the institutions as well. 

In the event, head of Public Relations Division of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Said Huseynov presented “Science promotion, state-of-the art and development outlooks”.
