On January 29, President Ilham Aliyev met with a group of the youth on the occasion of 20th anniversary of the 1st Forum of Azerbaijan Youth.

Bringing to mind the celebration of 20th anniversary of 1st Forum of Azerbaijan Youth President Ilham Aliyev drew attention to the vital role of the Forum in youth policy of Azerbaijan, which was held in Azerbaijan in 1996 at initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev. Also spoke about independence history of Azerbaijan, difficult years for country and people, Armenians territorial claims against Azerbaijan, and massacre committed against civil population in Baku by Soviet Empire. Just at those times Heydar Aliyev condemned criminal deeds of Soviet leadership. Being a rare event, it was a daring step by national leader. Afterwards, he moved to Baku, then to Nakhchivan and rescued autonomous republic from Armenian occupational policy and surely declared that, “Nagorno Karabakh is our ancient land”, stated Ilham Aliyev.

Coordinating the problems of early 1990s with the governmental crisis, President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP) - Musavat governance was a big problem for the people at those times. Taking position in the power by force, these parties played a role in occupation of our lands. After coming to power these people began fighting with each other, while the others escaped and hidden, since 1993, Heydar Aliyev came and stabilized the state in the country. Thanks to the Heydar Aliyev's merits “Contract of the Century” has stirred up a number of foreign forces, they attempted coups d'etat in Azerbaijan, but national leader removed the situation with the help of the people, said President Ilham Aliyev.

"We are building a strong and self-confident state and it must live forever," - said President Ilham Aliyev characterized the latest 20 years as a period of development and stability, brought to mind Azerbaijan representation in the UN Security Council by support of 155 countries, execution of important energy projects, opting to a country of space, economic diversification, important steps taken to develop the science and education, establishment of a strong army and a strong social policy.

In closing, a group of youth were submitted Honorary Diplomas of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for their efficient services in implementing youth policy in Azerbaijan.

In the meeting, chairman of Public Council on Youth Affairs under the Ministry of Youth and Sports Nureddin Mehdiyev, chairman of "ASAN Volunteers" Public Union Farid Sadikhli, chairman of Public Union “Association of Students in Economics and Management" Maryam Majidova, project coordinator “UN model" Elmira Mammadova, a young entrepreneur, the Davos Economic Forum organization of "Global shapes" Mushvig Hasanov, Public Union's secretary for international relations "Ganja 2016 - European youth capital" Aysun Zeynalova, and the executive director of the Youth Foundation under President Farhad Hajiyev expressed their opinions.

President Ilham Aliyev stated that, Youth Foundation will be assisted by financial support in future as well.

It should be noted that, the meeting was attended by chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of ANAS, Assoc. Prof. Famin Salmanov.
