ANAS Presidium held next meeting on February 10. At the event was delivered a report on the results of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS in 2015.

On the scientific and organizational work carried out in the department during the year, reported Acting Academician-Secretary of the Department, corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova. She noted that, studies conducted in scientific institutions of the Department of Social Sciences, aimed at the development of our country, maintaining the social and political stability, protection of material-moral and national values and active integration of Azerbaijan into international space. Nargiz Akhundova noted that, Department of Social Sciences is the largest structural Department of ANAS. In its structure are functioned 8 research institutions and a museum. Department overseas 3 Problematic Councils of the Republican Council on Organization and Coordination of Research. It was mentioned that, in a reporting year, institutions of Department conducted its research in these areas in government programs.

In 2015, by Institute Archeology and Ethnography were organized the ethnographic expeditions in the villages of Guba-Khachmaz region of Azerbaijan, which is densely populated ethnic groups, known in historical and ethnographic literature as "Shahdag peoples". The aim of the expeditions were: the collection of historical and ethnographic information about the history, material and spiritual culture, origin, ethnic characteristics, habitats living, customs and traditions, folk beliefs of these groups. Staff of the institute as a part of organized in the territory of the Gobustan region and the foothill Shirvan region expedition registered the archaeological monuments and samples of material culture located here by means of GIS technologies (Geographical Information Systems) and already developed the electronic map of the territory of studying of archaeological monuments. Furthermore, according to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On some measures for the creation of an archaeological park in Goytapa" in order to establish Archeopark, conforming to world standards by the Institute were organized excavations around the monument. As a result of large-scale archaeological research in these areas were found dozens of archaeological monuments previously unknown to science.

Institute of the History named after A.A.Bakikhanov were performed research works, envisaged in the "Concept of General History of Azerbaijan". These studies covered such industries as the historiography and source study, political, social and economic history of Azerbaijan and etc.

Speaking about scientific and organizational work of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after of Academician Z. Bunyadov in 2015, N.Akhundova noted that, were finished works devoted to history, economy and political position of east countries, interrelations of Azerbaijan with east countries, research of east philology and philological communications of Azerbaijan with east countries, studying, transfer and the edition of written monuments of the East, and also relationship of eastern and western civilizations.

At the Institute of Philosophy and Law studied theoretical issues of religion in the modern period, history and philosophy of religions, topical issues of religion and culture in Azerbaijan, philosophical and sociological and socio-psychological issues of scientific knowledge and global studies, sociological problems of modernization, the most current and controversial issues in world history and Azeri philosophy, social thought and culture in the field of gender studies.

At the Institute of Economics were continued research works to study issues of formation and development of sustainable economic development model that is based on innovation (2014-2016), role of macroeconomic and demographic regulation in ensuring sustainable economic development, quality of economic growth, problems of oil sector, entrepreneurship and international economic relations, the formation of human resources and capital, productive employment and improve quality of life, socio-economic and demographic problems of the service sector development, social and economic problems of regional development, agriculture and the agricultural sector, the rational use of sown areas for sustainable economic development.

During the reporting period at the Institute of Human Rights were continued the researches in the area of "Law and fundamental human freedoms in the context of the development of democratic processes in Azerbaijan society".

Staff of the Azerbaijan National History Museum carried out consecutive works on collecting, storage, research of the monuments of material culture relating to the entire periods of history of Azerbaijan, their demonstration by means of expositions, and the publication of research results.

Academician-secretary emphasized that, in the reporting year, were carried out research on 117 subjects and 271 works, covering 33 problems in 8 scientific fields in the institutions of the Department. 26 themes from the 117 and 196 from the 271 work were completed.

The speaker also touched upon personnel potential of the scientific institutions of Department .

She noted that, in the scientific institutes and organizations of Department are working 1419 employees, 786 from which are researchers, 90 - doctors of sciences and 381 are PhDs. Besides, in department are working 5 active members and 19 corresponding members of ANAS. In 2015 Department members participated in 69 conferences. 6 people were awarded the state awards.

Further, Nargiz Akhundova acquainted attendees with the important scientific results received last year.

She noted that, by Department employers were published 1029 articles, including 229 abroad and 293 theses, 160 from which were published abroad. 114 books were published, 8 of which were published abroad. 114 books were published, 8 from which were published abroad. 32 articles of institute employers were published in journals with an impact-factor, works of research associates were cited 322 times.

Last year at ANAS Institute of Archeology and Ethnography was created magistracy and was carried out reception in "Anthropology".

Nargiz Akhundova spoke about the important printed publications and exhibitions of Department institutions which were implemented in 2015 according to research plan.

She noted that, at the book exhibition organized on May 14-18 of last year in Turin, Italia were submitted 2 scientific publications of the Institute of History translated to Italian: "Irevan khanate: Russian occupation and resettlement of Armenians to the North lands of Azerbaijan" and the monograph of the corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov "Azerbaijan and Europe".

In 2015 were published the books of Academician Ramiz Mehdiyev "On the problems of scientific historical knowledge", "Nagorno-Karabakh: history read from sources", "From the world order to the "Mess". About the origins of the degradation of European institutions or policy of double standards towards Azerbaijan" and others, book of Academician Naila Velikhanli "The era of Nakhchivan in VII-XII centuries in the history and historiography" and 6 books of the ANAS corresponding member Yagub Mahmudov in Italian, Spanish, English and Russian languages.

At the event reporter also talked about the international relations of Department.

She stressed that, the research institutions collaborate with universities and research centers in the USA, Russia, Turkey, France, Japan, Australia, Lithuania, Georgia and other countries of the world; also they have received grants from the Science Development Fund under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for their projects.

The event adopted a resolution approving the report of the scientific and organizational activity of ANAS Department of Social Sciences of ANAS in 2015 and its inclusion in the annual report of the Academy.

Department was instructed to carry out research in the field of social sciences in the priority areas, which were announced by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the General Meeting, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of ANAS.
