Presentation of "The theme of genocide in Azerbaijani and world art" book

By joint organizational support of ANAS Commission for Study of Genocide against Azerbaijanis and Institute of Architecture and Art hosted the presentation of "The theme of genocide in Azerbaijani and world art" book on February 22.

First, at the foyer of the main building of ANAS was demonstrated exhibition devoted to Khojali genocide.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli spoke about the historical tragedies of the Azerbaijani people, the genocide in Khojaly committed by Armenian nationalists, about the invaluable merits of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, in particular, about the Vice-President of this structure Leyla Aliyeva in bringing tragedy to the world community. He also noted that, established by initiative L. Aliyeva the "Justice for Khojaly" campaign contributed to the recognition of the Khojaly tragedy in some countries as an act of genocide.

Further, I.Habibbeyli informed about the activities of the Commission for the study of Commission for Study of Genocide against Azerbaijanis, created in the Academy in order to organize genocide studies. He noted that, purposeful measures were carried out by the Commission to deliver the genocide crimes committed against Azerbaijanis to the world community.

Speaking about the scientific and historical value of the book, Academician brought to the attention that, materials devoted to the topic of genocide in the visual arts have been published in the new edition in a generalized form for the first time.

It was noted that, book published by the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute of Architecture and Art presents works of painting, sculpture, graphics and memorial architecture by artists of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Israel, Japan, Poland, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.

At the event were delivered reports by the Director of the Institute of Architecture and Art, corresponding member of ANAS Ertegin Salamzadeh "Khojali genocide in Azerbaijani art", Director of the Institute of Human Rights, Doctor of Legal Sciences Ayten Mustafayeva "Legal aspects of Khojaly tragedy" and others.

Reports underlined that Khojaly tragedy is a monstrous crime against the Azerbaijani people and stressed the need to deliver the realities of the tragedy to the world community.
