Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

On April 8, next bureau assembly of the Department of Agrarian Sciences was held.

In first, martyrs, who died heroically for sake of integrity of our lands, were cherished for a minute of silence.

Opening the assembly Academician-Secretary of the Department Academician Garib Mammadov spoke about armed provocation of Armenia against Azerbaijan on the night of 1 to 2 April. Academician noted that Azerbaijan scientists support the performance of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Mr. Ilham Aliyev at the meeting of the Security Council under the President of Azerbaijan Republic. Describing the achievements of the Azerbaijani Army, academician stressed that the release of many strategic positions from Armenian occupation thanks to the courage of our soldiers, can be considered a great victory. He stressed that in this case plays an important role focused and consistent policy of the head of state, as well as the important decisions taken in the field of army building. Head of the department was confident that the scientific community of Azerbaijan will support until the end of the national army, which soon will certainly liberate our occupied territories.

Further Academician Garib Mammadov informed about the issues on the agenda.

The event discussed issues concerning the preparation for the Annual General Meeting of ANAS to be held later this month. It was noted that the General Meeting will be listened on the activity report of the Academy in 2015 and discussed a number of important issues.

The meeting also discussed issues concerning the organization of the exhibition of the General Meeting of ANAS. The head of the Division of Promotion of the Scientific Achievements, executive director of the exhibition, PhD in history Nurida Guliyeva informed about the preparations for the scientific institutions and organizations of the exhibition. She has put forward a number of proposals and recommendations on prescribed submission of materials.

At the meeting it was decided that the presentation of proposals to the Presidium in connection with the priorities in the near future within the framework of the "National Strategy on Science Development in the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2009-2015," the President of Azerbaijan.

At the event were also mentioned the recommendations made by the plan for admission to doctoral and dissertate of the research institutions for 2016. Further decisions were taken on the establishment of the Department of Education at the Institute of Genetic Resources, renaming Division of techniques, food and medicinal plants to the Department of technical and fodder plants, as well as making some changes in the composition of the Scientific Council of the Institute.
