Event devoted to the Day of International Monuments and Historical Sites

In Baku, the main festive event was held in the Temple of fire worshipers "Ateshgah", which brought together representatives of numerous peoples of Azerbaijan.

Location of the holiday was not chosen by chance - according to the Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev, "Ateshgah" is an example of the fact that Azerbaijan was able to maintain the historical religious monuments and promote them to the world community. "Azerbaijan has demonstrated to the world its cultural heritage, its sites included in the UNESCO heritage list. But we do not intend to stop there now is preparing the relevant documents for submission to the UNESCO list of the historic town of Sheki, as well as historical monuments of Nakhchivan, which are also important for the world of culture ", - said Garayev.

Attending the opening of the event the State Adviser on Multiculturalism and Religious Affairs Kamal Abdulla noted that today they had an opportunity to talk about the cultural diversity of Azerbaijan. "The subject of" Azerbaijan multiculturalism "is taught at 13 universities around the world, it has its own history and traditions that are passed down from generation to generation. Azerbaijan - a perfect example of how religions can coexist in one country ", - said Kamal Abdulla.

Later on, director of the Institute of History corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov and chairman of Alban-Udin community Robert Mobili made speech on state care and attention to the culture and traditions of minorities, living in the country.

In closing, corresponding member of ANAS Ilyas Babayev was awarded “for investigation of cultural heritage of Azerbaijan” by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In addition, chief of Absheron region Center for Culture and Tourism Ilham Manafov, head architect of “Azerberpa” Scientific-Research Project Institute Leyla Huseynova and associate of State History-Culture and Ethnography Reserve in Khinalig Hasan Agayev were donated Certificate of Merits and monetary prizes by the Ministry.
