Head of Department of Information on Social Sciences and Technical Programming of ANAS Institute of Philosophy and Law Zohra Aliyeva was awarded the prestigious Order of Academic Palms (Chevalier degree, France) for merits in the development of cultural and scientific relations. The ceremony was held at the French Embassy in Azerbaijan on this April.
The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education of Azerbaijan Firudin Gurbanov, Acting Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences and corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova.
Noted, that the history of the Order of Academic Palms has more than 200 years. This award was established in 1808 on the orders of the Emperor Napoleon I Bonaparte for academicians and professors of the University of Paris and several lyceums.
Currently, the Order of Academic Palms may be awarded not only to teachers and educators, but also persons who are not related to the field of education, but who have made a significant contribution to this cause, as well as citizens living outside France, showing high activity in the promotion of French culture.
The award was awarded by French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ms. Aurelie Bouchez. Highly apprecated the efforts in the development and promotion of the French language in Azerbaijan, ambassador reported on contributions Zohra Aliyeva in the development of cultural and scientific relations between the two countries.
She has noted that, the former teacher of French Z. Aliyeva working in this field about 20 years possesses big merits in her development.
Z. Aliyeva within TEMPUS European program was Head of the European Center of Languages and taught French to statesmen, professors and teachers according to the program on a free basis in 1999-2002.
In 2008, at the suggestion of the French Embassy was sent to International Translation Center, Arles city. Purpose of the trip was the acquisition with works of Enlightenment philosophers and unknown Azerbaijani scientific community and the readers.
As for French culture, she staged play "Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, including samples of French folklore in Baku.
For merits in establishing of ties between universities she was elected the Emeritus Professor at the National Research Centre (CNRS French) and under the Sorbonne University and the University of Sophia Antipolis (2015) in 2013.
At the event Zohra Khanum expressed gratitude to the French Republic, and Ambassador of this state to our country Madame Aurelie Bouchez, who praised her contribution to the Azerbaijani-French cooperation over the years. Awarding of this prize is the next manifestation of friendship between two people developing the cultural ties through many centuries.
