At the meeting, Academician Isa Habibbeyli stated that the unshakable friendship and shared scientific and cultural heritage between the two countries are built on a solid foundation. He noted that the sincere братские relations between President Ilham Aliyev and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev serve as the main guarantee of unity between the two nations. This unity, he подчеркнул, is not only political but also a spiritual bond that contributes to the enrichment of shared culture.
The ANAS President emphasized that Uzbekistan has always stood by Azerbaijan, particularly during the Second Karabakh War. He noted that the projects currently being implemented in the liberated territories, including Khankendi, are a clear example of this unity.
Academician Isa Habibbeyli highlighted the rapid development of relations between the academies of sciences and universities of the two countries, noting that the “Navoi Days,” dedicated to the great thinker Alisher Navoi and held annually in February in Baku, have already become a fine tradition.
“Nizami Ganjavi, Muhammad Fuzuli, and Alisher Navoi are geniuses not only of the Turkic world but of all humanity. Alisher Navoi regarded Nizami Ganjavi as his mentor, and this spiritual continuity has connected our peoples for centuries. In recent years, books about Alisher Navoi have been published at ANAS, and scientific conferences have been held. Nizami Ganjavi’s ‘Khamsa’ has been translated into Uzbek, while Alisher Navoi’s ‘Khamsa’ has been translated into Azerbaijani and published. Uzbek-born researcher Khalid Said Khojayev translated Mahmud Kashgari’s ‘Divan lughat al-Turk’ into our language,” said Academician Isa Habibbeyli.
The head of ANAS also respectfully recalled the active participation of the Uzbek delegation in the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress held in Baku and their contributions to the issue of a common alphabet.
