Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

As known, during an academic year of 2015-2016, the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology specialty "Molecular Biology" was accepted 4 undergraduates. The main purpose of the master's degree in ANAS is to attract scientists, working in modern trends of science. To this end, the teaching process of molecular biology is involved scientists working in the latest fields of science.

On April 22-29, 2016, a celebrate scientist, group chief of Computer Crystallography at Laboratory of Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge, head of the Laboratory of Computational Structural Biology at the Department of Fundamental Problems of Biological Productivity of ANAS Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, Professor Garib Murshudov delivered lectures on “Methods of structural biology” to the undergraduates in the second term of master studies. The course covers ways of learning the biological macromolecules, including  protein structures.

Lectures provide information about protein separation, purification and methods of preparation of their crystals, the crystals from X-rays for research - the methods of computer analysis of the results of a structural analysis.

In addition to undergraduates of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnologies, lectures were attended by undergraduates and academic staff of the Institutes of Genetic Resources and Botany, Biology and Applied Mathematics faculties of the Baku State University, Biology faculty of Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University named after N.Tusi.
