The Presidium of the ANAS hosted a scientific conference on "Doctrine of independent statehood and modernity”, dedicated to 93rd anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Opening the event with remarks, the President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the historical merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the Azerbaijani people, its activities in the field of political, economic and cultural development.

ANAS President said that thanks to the wise policy and historical foresight of Heydar Aliyev has been implemented the idea of national statehood, was built a modern state, the Azerbaijani people realized their dream of independence. The academician said that the ideas of Heydar Aliyev, which are successfully carried out by President Ilham Aliyev today, are a guarantee of the future development of Azerbaijan. Academician Akif Alizadeh noted that the great merit of national leader in the successful activity of ANAS: "After the arrival of Heydar Aliyev to power for a second time has been cancelled the risk of closure of the Academy and began a new period in the development of Azerbaijan science. Today thoughtful policy of national leader is successfully and confidently continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev will remain in people's memory forever, our people will always be proud of him. "

Then the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli made a presentation on "New Azerbaijan by Heydar Aliyev to President Ilham Aliyev." He noted that thanks to Heydar Aliyev carried out over 47 years of public policy, Azerbaijan has become one of the leading countries of the former Soviet Union, and the independent Azerbaijan - one of the most authoritative states of the world.

Academician Isa Habibbeyli added that the stable policy covers several periods, "the policy pursued by Heydar Aliyev, can be analyzed from several aspects. However, there are three most important steps, which of development of our country are connected to. The first period covers the years of 1969-1982. When that time Heydar Aliyev came to power, Azerbaijan was one of the last places among the Soviet republics. It was his work ennobled our country at one of the first three stages among the Soviet republics. In 1993, when he came to power for the second time, a great leader saved the country from impending danger over it. His reforms carried out during the years of independence led to the development of Azerbaijan in all spheres. Having come to power in 2003, President Ilham Aliyev has successfully continued the national leader’s course and further contributed to the development of the country”.

Vice-president of ANAS noted that national leader saved Azerbaijan from the dangers and ensured the inviolability of the country's independence: "Heydar Aliyev for the first time in the history of the country raised the idea Azerbaijanism to the level of the political ideology of the state. Although the concept of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijanism roots date back centuries ago, while for many centuries they were used only as a geographic name, in the last century were formed the national idea. Rising Azerbaijanism in public policy to the level of national ideology is one of the great historical merits of national leader Heydar Aliyev to the Azerbaijani people.”

Academician Isa Habibbeyli added that Heydar Aliyev has chosen the exact ideological goal for the further successful development of Azerbaijan, and thanks to this policy in the country has further developed the tradition of multiculturalism, which has moved to a new level.

Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijan Literature named after Nizami of ANAS, Academician Rafael Huseynov reported on "Heydar Aliyev and development of national culture in Azerbaijan." He spoke in detail about the life and activity of Heydar Aliyev, his invaluable contribution in the development of the country's culture. Academician noted that due to the cultural policy of Heydar Aliyev, our people, having an ancient rich material and spiritual culture, was able to tell the world about its history and rich cultural heritage. Having said that, a great leader is the patron of culture and morality of Azerbaijan, Rafael Huseynov noted that during the Soviet period, despite the obstacles created, he did his best for the development of national culture. As a result of the activities of the Heydar Aliyev culture experienced its heyday. Academician also stressed that the national leader has always shown care and attention in relation to the creative people, the famous figures of culture and science.

He noted that today political course of the great leader in the development of Azerbaijani culture successfully carry by his successor President Ilham Aliyev.

At the event, Director of the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Academician Irada Huseynova delivered a report on "Heydar Aliyev and Azerbaijan nature". She pointed out that, the attitude of the great leader to nature was an integral part of his ideas of Azerbaijanianism: "Heydar Aliyev, who treated his people as "Children of nature" in all periods of his management, he took care of the Azerbaijan nature. In a difficult and controversial Soviet period, Heydar Aliyev always kept at the center of their attention the decision of environmental problems of Azerbaijan, protection and preservation of the unique natural monuments of the country, treated with special care to issues such as environmental protection, the rational use of natural resources, improve the ecological condition. In this regard, over the years they have been carried out various national programs; have enacted laws and regulations, implemented measures for the creation of an ecological network in the country". 

Noted that, after return at insistence of the people to the power for the second time, Heydar Aliyev has put the solution of environmental problems of independent Azerbaijan in the forefront again, director of the institute has added that, the great leader has adopted the far-sighted resolutions aimed at the solution of many global and regional environmental problems, has improved the laws and resolutions connected with conservation and rational use of natural resources, existing before thanks to his activity the country has joined a number of the international conventions.

Academician Irada Huseynova has emphasized that, the works have begun, and successfully continue by the President Ilham Aliyev, therefore the country has turned into the leading state of the region.

Next, chairman of the ANAS Young Council of Scientists and Specialists, PhD in Physics Famin Salmanov delivered a report on "Heydar Aliyev: youth and modernity". He has emphasized that, one of the leading places in steady national ideology was occupied by the youth policy pursued by the National leader: "The great leader Heydar Aliyev always urged youth to take active part in social and political life of the country, saw further progress of dynamically developing Azerbaijan in the hopes laid on youth. In order to remain faithful to the national political will of Azerbaijan, for the protection of the interests in the name of further prosperity and, most importantly, formation of the fundamental political basis, the main priority of the state he always considered upbringing of the youth in the national spirit and its involvement in common activities". Famin Salmanov noted that, the basis of formation of youth of the country as the modern, developed, highly intellectual leading force was put by national leader.

Saying that, the youth policy pursued in modern Azerbaijan, comprehensive support to its development, including the development of scientific youth, creating opportunities for further development of the country, Chairman of the Board stressed that, all this is reflected in President Ilham Aliyev's youth policy concept.

At the event also reported director of the Institute of Petrochemical Processes, Academician Vagif Abbasov, director of the Oriental Institute, and corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva.
