Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

ANAS Presidium held a meeting with the delegation headed by the Chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Culture and Relations of Iran Abuzer Ibrahimi on May 13.

First, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh acted. Speaking about the existing ties between the two countries in various spheres, a scientist has expressed interest in co-operation with relevant scientific institutions of Iran and ANAS.

Akif Alizadeh noted that the 70th anniversary of ANAS was celebrated in November of last year. He informed the guest about the reforms carried out in the Academy, innovative projects, research carried out in the priority research areas. Speaking about the research carried out in the structure led by him in the humanities, natural and exact sciences, scientist invited guest to the joint cooperation in the field of petroleum geology, mud volcanoes, and others. 

Then the chairman of the Organization of the Islamic Culture and Relations of Iran Abuzer Ibrahimi, who pointed out that, Iran has prepared "Islamic Encyclopedia", which is a great source of information, and invited Azerbaijani scientists to take part in this process. Guest, talking about work "Gulistan" Sadi noted that this work is of great interest readers of all civilized nations of the world. A.Ibrahimi in turn urged Azeri scholars to undertake jointly with scientists from the Iranian events dedicated to the life and work of prominent figures of the Islamic world. 

The next speaker was the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Isa Habibbeyli. He noted that "Islamic Encyclopedia" in 40 volumes, is the largest common in Muslim countries, encyclopedia, which reflected the important facts related to the Islamic values in Azerbaijan. He stressed that Azerbaijan scientists should be actively involved in the preparation of the Islamic encyclopedia, as well as to enrich this publication of information about our country.

Isa Habibbeyli by referring to the other day conference dedicated to Sheikh Sadi Shirvani said that will be listened interesting presentations at the event. It was noted that the activities to be organized in Iran about outstanding persons of Azerbaijan, promote the expansion of relations between the two countries and further enhance solidarity in the Islamic world.

Scientist informed about the event titled "Day of Firdovsi", which will be held in two days in Baku at the Center for Iranian culture and said that there will also be attended by scientists of ANAS.

Academician-Secretary of the Department of Humanities, director of the Institute of Manuscripts, Academician Teymur Karimli note that more than 12 thousand manuscripts are kept in the Institute of Manuscripts. After reporting on the functioning of the institute of the Department of studying Persian manuscripts, he praised the work done in the direction restoration of manuscripts.

Then, with the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries and the organization of joint activities coherent, it was decided to sign a cooperation agreement.

At the conclusion of the event ANAS President and Chairman of the Organization of Islamic Culture and Relations presented each other gifts.
