Darband Historical-Architectural Reserve Art Museum held a meeting of Azerbaijan and Dagestan scientists.

Meeting organized by Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Carpet-weaving Center “Azer-Ilme” and RAS Dagestan Scientific Center, Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography, discussed the outputs of the project “Darband carpet-weaving”.

Project manager, director of Carpet-weaving Center “Azer-Ilme” Honored Art Figure Professor Vidadi Muradov informed on the key principles, course of the project, and expeditions carried out. He noted that, outputs of the project were reflected in a book “Darband carpet-weaving: a mutual history of cultures”. Ongoing book explores typical features of Darband carpet-weaving, its development phases and specific aspects, including presents interesting sketches about history, ethno-cultural scope of this ancient town, and archive materials on separate fields of art, developed here.

Within the project, carpets woven in Darband region and protected in the celebrate cultural temples such as The State Art Museum of Eastern Peoples of Russia, State Historical Museum, Ethnographic Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, the State Hermitage Museum, were involved for exploration, said V. Muradov.

In a meeting, director of the RAS Dagestan Scientific Center, Institute of History, Archaeology and Ethnography PhD in History Mahach Musayev, director of the Darband Historical-Architectural Reserve Art Museum Ali Ibrahimov, Doctors of Historical sciences Jamal Mustafayev, Nazim Mahammadov, Dr. Philology Tehran Alishanli, PhDs in History Emil Karimov, Goshgar Goshgarli, Sharafaddin Maharramov and others made speech on the essence of the joint project of Azerbaijan and Dagestan scientists “Darband carpet-weaving”.

Meeting discussed outputs of the project, its promotion at the international scale, a joint collaboration prospect of the scientists of both countries, including sounded opinions and suggestions on the publication of a signal copy of book “Darband carpet-weaving: a mutual history of cultures”.
