Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

It is known that, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an order in presenting State Prizes in science and literature for 2016, on May 26.

Under order, scientists of the Institute of Geography – director Academician Ramiz Mammadov, Deputy Director of Science corresponding member of ANAS Prof. Elbrus Alizadeh, PhD in Geography Maharram Hasanov and Dr. Geography Zakir Eminov were deserved to State Prize in Science for their tree-volume monograph “Geography of the Republic of Azerbaijan”.

Assembly of the Academic Council of the Institute of Geography has been dedicated to the awarding of scientists of this scientific venture the State Prize.

Academician-Secretary of the Department of Earth Sciences Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov spoke about latest achievements of the Institute of Geography, successes and international ties. He expressed his proud of awarding the three-volume “Geography of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, which is of profit by geographer-scientists and had no analogue in Azerbaijan geography science, the State Prize, and taking into account great importance of the work considered its translation into English and Russian necessary.

The entrusting of development the Azerbaijan Atlas of Emergency Situations to the Institute of Geography has been described by scientist as a high confidence to the management and staff of the institute.

Academician-Secretary of the Department also notified about organizing the scientific-popular program “Science and Innovation” on Azerbaijan State Television by the initiative of President of ANAS Academician Akif Alizadeh, and stated that, next broadcasting of the program will be devoted to the granting State Prize in Science for 2016.

Then, Deputy Director of Science of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Dr. Geology-mineralogy Dadash Huseynov spoke about close relations of geologists with geographers, congratulated geographer-scientists on the occasion of awarding the State Prize. Noted that, ongoing tree-volume monograph is the priciest achievements of Azerbaijan geography science.

Winners – Deputy Director of Science corresponding member of ANAS Prof. Elbrus Alizadeh, PhD in Geography Maharram Hasanov and Dr. Geography Zakir Eminov expressed gratitude to the management of ANAS for support.

At the event, corresponding member of ANAS Rauf Gardashov, chairman of Trade Union Habil Hagverdiyev, scientific secretary Luiza Salayeva, Dr. Geography Mahammad Abduyev and others stressed out that, highly assessment of the work has rated the prestige of geography and geographers.

In closing, director of the institute, Academician Ramiz Mammadov proudly noted the granting first State Prize in Science to the geographers and highlighted it a profit of not only 4 individuals, but also whole staff.
