Wikipedia, as a global information resource, plays an important role in representing the world of complete and objective information about the history, culture and art of the Azerbaijani people and the Prevention of information war against the country's material and spiritual values.

The country's leadership pays special attention to the issue of ensuring our national interests in virtual space.

Purposeful measures are carried out in this direction. So, in 2014, by the decision of the Presidium of ANAS in order to protect virtual encyclopedia Wikipedia national interests of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the timely identification of sources of real and potential threats against our country, as well as accommodation in Wikipedia historical realities of Azerbaijan and content reflecting cultural and moral values, at ANAS Institute of Information Technology was established wiki-center.

The main areas of the Wiki-Center activities are holding wiki metric studies, theoretical and practical lessons on Wikipedia for scientists and specialists of different spheres, the popularization of Wikipedia among citizens and their involvement in advocacy work in accordance with the interests of Azerbaijan.

From June 20 Wiki-Center held regular training courses on "Theoretical and practical bases of the encyclopedia Wikipedia", where employees of institutions and organizations of ANAS are imparted the necessary knowledge to work with the relevant projects, to manage virtual encyclopedia Wikipedia and wiki technology.

During the course, which term is 1 month, hosts lectures and seminars on the problems and prospects of Wikipedia, the basic principles, common rules for the creation of encyclopedia articles, their structuring and monitoring templates and rules of their use, the rules of the use of sources, downloading of multimedia resources, copyright and ways of resolving conflicts in the wiki environment.

Note that, after completion of training courses the students will be awarded certificates.
