During the archaeological excavations in Sharur district founded relating walls to the early stage of the Middle Bronze Age

During the archaeological excavations carried out near the village of Disa of Sharur region in June and July 2016, were found walls of the early stage of the Middle Bronze Age.

According to information received by correspondent member of ANAS Veli Bakhshaliyev radiocarbon dating suggests that, walls were built at the end of the III millennium BC.

According to him, identification of fortifications in Sharur district will become a revolutionary event in the history of the region, as still neither in the Middle East, nor in South Caucasus haven’t the fortifications relating to the III millennium B.C been found.

V.Bahshaliev noted that, the fortress settlements of the Middle Bronze Age were characteristic of Nakhchivan. Availability of defensive structures is proof that in the III millennium BC in the territory of Nakhchivan was formed a powerful tribal alliance, has a great military potential.
