August 3-8, 2016 in Zagatala region with the organizational support of the executive power of Zagatala region was held a regional scientific workshop. The event aimed at coverage of the latest scientific achievements of the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation of ANAS, brought together representatives of district executive power, heads of farms, heads of agricultural departments, professionals in the agricultural sector, etc.

At the seminar, the Acting Director of the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation of ANAS, PhD in Agricultue Zakir Aliyev spoke on "Prospects for the development of mining irrigation in Azerbaijan, problems and solutions". He noted that the state program signed by President Ilham Aliyev in the field of agricultural science, have been successfully implemented in the structure he represents. Currently, the tasks assigned by President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh at every scientist engaged in this field were subsequently resolved.

According to the speaker, under the plan of research in the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation were carried out numerous research projects, the preliminary results are considered satisfactory. Along with, have been prepared and approved for large-scale application of evidence-based measures in the direction of all types of soil erosion: wind, irrigation, pasture, gully, mudflow, defilation and degradation.

Acting head of the laboratory of the Institute of Erosion and Irrigation, leading researcher for Security Studies of the Forest Sector Farrukh Khalilov spoke on "Environment, anthropogenic degradation of the forests of the Greater Caucasus and ways to improve them."

The event was an extensive exchange of views on further increasing the power of the country's agricultural industry and resolving the existing problems in the region in this area. Also, scientific and creative and organizational activities of the mentioned Institute were discussed on the eve of the 65th anniversary of the creation of structure and important scientific results achieved in recent years. It was noted that the conservation, rational and economical use of natural resources (forest, land, water and so on) of Azerbaijan in order to prevent the threat of exit from the cycle of sowing, the fight against soil erosion are significant challenges facing the scientists of the Institute.
