Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

As known, the first sports festival on checkers, chess, table tennis and football was organized by ANAS Free Trade Union among 15 institutes of academy, September 19 - October 7.

On October 7, closing and awarding ceremonies of the first sports festival of ANAS was held.

At the awarding ceremony, President of ANAS Academician Akif Alizadeh congratulated the winners and spoke about the importance of sports festival, which is held first time and government’s care to sports in Azerbaijan.

On September 28, the final matches of the checkers competition took at the Institute of Physics. According to the results of the competition, the competition among women Inje Maharramova from Institute of Soil Science and Agro chemistry has taken the 1st place, while Ilaha Ismayilzadeh and Khayala Abdulhasanova from Institute of Information Technology respectively were awarded 2nd and 3rd places.

At the competition among men Sakin Jabbarov, who represents the Institute of Physics was awarded 1st place, an associate of the Institute of Control Systems Shahin Bakhshiyev 2nd place, Yadigar Jafarov from the Institute of Radiation Problems won the 3rd place.

Table tennis competition was held in accordance with the rules of the International Table Tennis Federation. According to the results of the competition, 1st place among men was taken by Gurban Gurbanov, a representative of the Institute of Information Technology. Fizuli Bayramov (Institute of Physics) and Tural Mustafayev (Information Technology), respectively, were awarded 2nd and 3rd places.

Representative of the Institute of Physics Sevda Garibova was awarded 1st place at the competition among the women, Saida Mammadova (Institute of Physics) 2nd place, Lala Piriyeva (Republican Seismological Survey Center) 3rd place.

Chess competitions of the sports festival among women Ilaha Mammadova was deserved to 1st place (Institute of Physics), Yegana Ashrafova (Institute of Control Systems) 2nd, Afina Aliyeva 3rd place.

Based on the results of football the team of Institute of Geology and Geophysics has taken 1st place, team of the Institute of Physics 2nd place, team of the Institute of Genetic Resources 3rd place. Competitions are governed by national and international referees.
