On October 13, "House of Scientists" of ANAS held an event "JINR days in the Republic of Azerbaijan", dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and the 25th anniversary of JINR cooperation with the independent Azerbaijan.
The event was attended by representatives of the JINR member countries, foreign embassies in Azerbaijan and scientific institutions.
Opening the event, President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh greeted the guests. Noting that scientific cooperation between ANAS and JINR has entered a new stage, the academician added that measures are being taken with a view to further expansion of the activities of Azerbaijani scientists at JINR. Having said that there is an effective educational infrastructure at JINR, the academician noted that the employees of scientific institutions, which are the result of interviews and hearings conducted with the participation of experts and working groups representing both sides, were selected for internships at JINR, were sent to the above-mentioned Institute.
Academician Akif Alizadeh stressed that further development of cooperation in the scientific field and to determine the prospects of ongoing activities in the future and then will be a joint meeting.
The event JINR Director Academician Victor Matveyev made a presentation on "JINR status and prospects." The scientist spoke about the innovative activities of the Institute, ongoing projects, and created in the laboratories of modern material and technical base. JINR Director also spoke about the results of studies that have been carried out by scientists of the Institute of Nuclear Physics.
Then the event continued moderating discussions with Plenipotentiary Representative of the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan to JINR Academician-secretary of Division of Physical-Mathematical and Technical Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nazim Mammadov.
In the next part of the event Director of the JINR Laboratory of High Energy, Professor Vladimir Kekelidze made a report “NICA project". The scientist noted that NİCA Collider is established at JINR for the study of the quark-gluon plasma. He added that through this collider, scientists will study a special state of matter in which our universe remained after the Big Bang (Big Bang). The professor pointed out that from this project, which involves six countries, expect more scientific results.
Then, the event continued with a poster session.
After the event, the delegation of the JINR member states visited some institutes of ANAS.
