"Middle East Crisis: challenges of the XXI century and independent Azerbaijan" scientific conference held

On October 25, organized by the Institute of Oriental Studies main building of ANAS hosted for a scientific conference "Middle East Crisis: challenges of the XXI century and independent Azerbaijan" devoted to the 25th anniversary of restoration of state independence of Azerbaijan.

Conference brought together diplomatic representatives of several Middle Eastern countries - Libya's Ambassador Abdurrazzag Shikahi, the country's consul Abdurrazzag al-Jabri, the Iraqi Consul Abdul Hakim Elyas, Jordan’s Consul Sad al-Gazali, 2nd Secretary of the Embassy of Saudi Arabia Badr Almugairizhi, an analyst of the Embassy of Qatar Dr. Ahmad al-Salihi, an employee of the Turkish Embassy Meral Parlas, head of the Egyptian Cultural Center Ahmad Sami.

The event was opened by the Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies, corresponding member of ANAS Govhar Bakhshaliyeva, who spoke about the history of the struggle for independence in our country. Making speech on tireless efforts of national leader Heydar Aliyev to preserve and strengthen the independence of Azerbaijan, G.Bakhshaliyeva noted the successful continuation of his policy by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev.

Then, Iraqi Consul Abdul Hakim Alyas, Jordan Consul Sad al-Gazali and an associate of Turkish Embassy Meral Parlas told about the impact of Middle East crisis to the regional countries and works done due to survive from crisis.

Afterwards, Deputy Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies corresponding member of ANAS Shahin Mustafayev submitted a lecture on “Middle East crisis and key directions of internal and external policy of Turkey”, which conducts main directions of Turkish policy related to the recent events in the region and Middle East crisis, Turkey's attitude to the current situation in Iraq and Syria, problem of international terrorism, refugee issue to impact Turkey's political and economic situation and other issues.

Chief Department of History and Economy of the Arabian countries at the Institute of Oriental Studies PhD in History Farda Asadov made a lecture on "Common historical-political roots of Iraq and Syria crisis", analyzing bloody events and crisis in Syria and Iraq in the context of the Middle East crisis.

Delivering a lecture on “Middle East and Iran” chief department of Iranian history and economy at the institute, PhD in History Vidadi Mustafayev spoke about foreign policy pursued by Iran Islamic Republic due to protect national interests and become a huge country in the condition of Middle East crisis.
