Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

Baku hosts first meeting of the Joint Working Group on scientific-technical cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus. To this end, the event organized in the Presidium of ANAS was discussed mechanisms of development and prospects for cooperation between the parties in the innovation sphere.

At the event, Chairman of the Working Group on the Azerbaijani side, the President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh spoke about the work carried out in the scientific institutions of ANAS to enhance the material-technical base. He emphasized the great importance of strengthening the business partnership between ANAS and scientific centers of Belarus in research and innovation, as well as implementation of joint projects and programs.

At the meeting, Academician Akif Alizadeh reminded of the Order of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the establishment of the Park of High Technologies of ANAS. He noted that such modern complexes are of great importance in terms of the coordination of the activities of local and foreign research institutions and universities, as well as expansion of cooperation in science and technology and innovation fields.

Then the head of the Working Group on the Belarusian side, the first deputy chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Kosovo spoke about the development of cooperation between our countries in the sphere of science and education. Andrei Kosovo made a presentation reflecting the innovative infrastructure of the Republic of Belarus.

Also at the meeting, issues such as the development of cooperation in the field of basic research were discussed, as well as the announcement of the tender joint innovation projects between Azerbaijan and Belarus were presented suggestions and recommendations.

Next meeting continued under the chairmanship of the Vice-President of ANAS, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev.

In conclusion, the parties signed a protocol on scientific-technical cooperation.
