Azerbaijan National Academy of Science

As known, since November 14, by co-organization of Presidium of ANAS, Ministries of Education, Culture and Tourism, Institutes of Linguistics, Literature, and Oriental Studies on behalf of Academician Ziya Bunyadov, kicked off the international conference on topic “Shared values and new challenges in Turkological scientific-cultural movement” devoted to the 90th anniversary of the 1st Turkological Congress.

Within the conference, was carried out a discussion of suggestions concerning manuals “Common textbooks of Turkic peoples”, “Common Turkic history”, “Common Turkic literature”, and “Common Turkic geography”. Opening the conference director of the Institute of Literature, Vice-President of ANAS and Academician Isa Habibbeyli clarified the essence and goal of the conference and noted that, the international conference is carried out according to the decree of President Ilham Aliyev "About to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the 1st Turkological Congress," dated 18 February 2015 and discussion which is held today on "Common textbooks of Turkish people" realizes ideals and objectives of 1st Turkological Congress in 1926.

President of International Turkic Academy Professor Darkhan Khidiraly reported at the conference and noted that project “Common textbooks of Turkic peoples” has been realized by support of President of the Kazakhshtan Republic N.Nazarbayev.

Later on, Academician-Secretary of the Division of Humanitarian Sciences Academician Teymur Karimli, Shukru Haluk Akalin at the department of Literature, Turkic language and Literature section of Hajettepe University, Professors Ahmad Bijan Arjilasun, Ramazan Gorkhmaz, Fikrat Turkman, Osman Fikri Sartgaya and others acted at the event.

Director of the Central Scientific Library of ANAS PhD in Medicine Leyla Imanova informed about establishment of “Association of Academies of Sciences and International Turkic Academy Libraries included Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries”

At the event, Professor Darkhan Kidiraly was deserved to the name of Emeritus Doctor of Literature Institute, Ahmad Bijan Arjilasun to the name of Linguistics Institute.

Ahmad Bijan Arjilasun, Osman Fikri Sartgaya and Fikrat Turkman were awarded the medal of International Turkic Academy.

International conference will run until November 15.
