Prominent scientist in the field of geology science, doctor of geological-mineralogical sciences Zakaria Alizadeh passed away on 23 November, 2016 at age of 89.

Z.Alizadeh was born on February 4, 1936 in Sheki. In 1953 he entered to the geological exploration faculty of Azerbaijan Industrial Institute after M.Azizbekov, in 1958 finished high school with a degree in mining engineering geologist.

He began his career since August 8, 1958 as an operator in the oil producing division Pirallahi January 21, 1959, given the high knowledge, was appointed as a senior laboratory assistant of the Institute of Geology of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan. On September 7 of the same year began to work as a junior research officer of the Institute.

In 1962 he entered the graduate school of the Institute of Geology, in 1966, defended the dissertation on "The Laws of distribution of some chemical elements in Agchagylskih sediments and associated paleogeographic problems of Western Azerbaijan", received the degree of candidate of geological-mineralogical sciences. In 1970, the competition was elected the chief researcher of the Institute of Geology.

Zakaria Alizadeh, according to the decree of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan in 1972 was appointed head of Sheki scientific basis. In 1995, after the transformation of the institution in Sheki Regional Scientific Center he was appointed as Director of this structure.

They were established by the laboratory to study the Sheki in terms of folklore geology, geography and physics.

Scientist expanding research in their field in 1989 at the Institute of Geological Sciences of Ukraine defended his doctoral thesis on "Ore-bearing deposits lithology and geochemistry of ore elements slozhnodislotcirovannyh areas (for example, middle and upper Jurassic depositions of southern slope of the Greater Caucasus)."

In 1962-2010 were published 4 books and over 80 scientific articles scientist.

Scientific and social activities Z.Alizadeh was highly appreciated by the government the President's Decree in connection with the 60th anniversary of the creation of ANAS he was awarded the medal "Tereggi".

The scientist also paid great attention to the training of young cadres under his leadership, 8 graduate students and candidates were prepared.

The memory of the past glorious career Zakaria Alizadeh’s memory will live in hearts of people who knew him.
