Today, a round table was organized by the Institute Information Technology to get acquainted with the possibilities of scientific -computer network (SCN) AzScienceNet.

The round table was attended by the President of ANAS, Academician Akif Alizadeh, Vice-President, Academician Ibrahim Guliyev, chairman of the State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patents Ramiz Hasanov, Executive Director of the Science Development Fund under the President of AR Elchin Babayev, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Biological and Medical Sciences of ANAS, Academician Ahliman Amiraslanov, State Advisor on International Affairs and Multiculturalism and Religion of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Kamal Abdulla, Director of the National Museum of Azerbaijani Literature, Academician Rafael Huseynov, Academician-Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences of ANAS, corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova, Head Management Department, PhD in Political Science Fatali Akhundov, corresponding member of ANAS Nizami Jafarov and other staff.

Academician-Secretary of ANAS, Director of ANAS Institute of Information Technology, Academician Rasim Alguliyev informed the guests about the opportunities represented by the network platform of e-science SCN of AzScienceNet in our country.

He noted that, by providing the integration of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS to the European research and education network, with relevant international organizations, the use of electronic resources authoritative scientific bases of the world, sharing a wealth of information via the internet, this network acts as a national operator for scientific and educational networks.

Noting that, about 6,500 computer tools of scientific institutions and organizations of ANAS are connected to the of AzScienceNet network R.Alguliyev Academician stressed that, the expansion of the technical capabilities of AzScienceNet network now its computing power increased to 15 TFlops, the volume of the external memory is equal to 400 TB, and Internet connection speed - 1.41 Gb / s.

Academician noted that, the Center for Internet services, equipped with modern telecommunications equipment and software, discovered approximately 4,000 Academic staff members, covering 26 scientific institutions and organizations, broadband internet access.

R.Alguliyev noted that, AzScienceNet, by setting close ties with the authoritative international organizations of the world, creates conditions for the employees of institutions and organizations of ANAS opportunities presented by scientific and educational networks in the world.

Academician noted that, after the election of a member of the Association of GEANT AzScienceNet established links of cooperation with more than 40 countries. He informed that our country in GEANT Association and its projects is presented by AzScienceNet.

Noting that, Data Center of the Scientific-computer of AzScienceNet network provides storage and usage of online information resources of strategic importance, Academician expressed that, this network offers great opportunities for researchers working. The scientist also noted that, through the information security monitoring systems operating in AzScienceNet network, monitored network activity, including the use of employees Internet resources and ensured security.
