The Institute of History of ANAS held the last meeting of the Scientific Council for 2016. At the meeting, council members got acquainted with the announcement on the election of active member and corresponding members of ANAS on December 28.

Speaking at the event, Director of the Institute of History, corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov said that, the research activities of the Institute is always the center of attention of the government. He noted that, the specialty "History" allocated 3 seats for the full member and 1 - for the correspondent member of ANAS.

For participation in the elections for ANAS active member correspondent member Yagub Mahmudov and Nargiz Akhundova from ANAS Institute of the Academic Council were nominated.

Speaking, scientists-historians Jabi Bahramov, Maryam Seyidbeyli, Tofig Najafli, Irada Baghirova, Tofig Mustafazadeh, Shahin Fazil and others praised the scientific and scientific-organizational activities of both candidates.

At the meeting it was noted that, in 2016 were published 49 new books in the institute. Deputy Director of the Institute Tofig Najafli said that, were published about 350 books over the past 12 years. Note that, in general, this indicator more than the total number of books published prior to 2004, for a period of 65 years history of Institute.

Scientist-historian Tofig Mustafazadeh in his speech said that, currently the Institute of History is on the revival of the stage: "As part of the problem " History of lost lands" the Institute of History in a short time began a serious study of the history of Irevan, Karabakh, Nakhchivan, Goychay and Zangezur North-Western Azerbaijan, Borchali, Derbent and South Azerbaijan, written by fundamental research".

In 2015, according to the order of President Ilham Aliyev for his merits in the development of domestic science department head of the Institute of History, Doctor of Historical Sciences Tofig Mustafazadeh was awarded the "Honored Worker of Science of Azerbaijan Republic".

The meeting also decided on the issue of "Proceedings" Journal on in English. And responsible secretary of the journal is appointed head of the department of "International relations", PhD in History Nargiz Faig gizi Akhundova.

In conclusion, Yagub Mahmudov noted that, 2016 was productive for the institution. This year were published the book "Irevan khanate: Russian occupation and resettlement of Armenians to the lands of Northern Azerbaijan (in Spanish and Arabic)", "The real story and the fiction of the "Great Armenia "(in Spanish and Russian)", two-volume book "History of the Republic of Azerbaijan ", the brochure "Erivan khanate: Armenian vandals destroyed the Khan's Palace","Erivan khanate: Armenian vandals destroyed the mosque Irevan", etc.
