A presentation ceremony of “Mausoleum Gulustan” was held at Nakhchivan Branch of ANAS.

At the event, chairman of the Branch Academician Ismayil Hajiyev brought to mind works done for study of all spheres in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) after removal of independence. He said that the ancient settlements, historical monuments are registered in the autonomous republic, monuments that are not known to be explored. Among the monuments survived to the present day is mausoleum Gulustan – nice and unique architectural monument of the XII century, locating in the territory of Julfa region.

It was noted that in accordance with the Decree by Chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Assembly dated October 7, 2015, mausoleum Gulustan was restored by scientific and historical basis. Besides of residents of NAR, this mausoleum is met with respect by foreign guests and arouses great interest on tourists.

Reporting at the presentation head department for Humanitarian Policy and Public Organizations of NAR Supreme Assembly Rahman Mammadov said that, large-scale construction, renovation and restoration work carried out in the autonomous republic, history, culture, education and science were taken care of. Large-scale construction covered architectural monuments in the region as well”.

Pursuant to the decree of the Chairman of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Assembly, "On the protection of historical and cultural monuments in the territory of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and organization of certification” dated December 6, 2005, historical and cultural monuments on the territory have been registered and certificated.

“Mausoleum Gulustan” book, publishing by Knowledge Foundation under Chairman of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Assembly in 3 languages (Azerbaijani, English and Russian) is a precious contribution for promoting Azerbaijan history and culture. The book conducts the text of Decree by Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on restoration of the mausoleum, its historical-architectural features, data about surrounding historical and architectural monuments, as well as photos taken before and after restoration of the mausoleum.

Director of the Institute of History, Ethnography and Archeology of Nakhchivan Branch, corresponding member of ANAS Fakhraddin Safarli, chief department of the same institute corresponding member of ANAS Veli Bakhshaliyev, Dr. History Assoc. Prof. Togrul Khalilov dealt with necessity of promoting our history, and siginifiance of the edition, presenteded to the public.

In closing, Academician Ismayil Hajiyev expressed gratitude for Chairman of the Supreme Assembly on behalf of scientists for care and attention to restoring and promoting historical and cultural monuments in the territory.
