Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

The founder of Azerbaijani schools function theory, Honored Worker of Science, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Ibrahim Ibrahimov is 105th.

On this occasion, ANAS Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics was commemorated a prominent scientist. On the commemoration ceremony, Director of the Institute, Professor Misir Mardanov talked about the merits of Academician I.Ibrahimov in the development of mathematical science in Azerbaijan and he noted that, he was the first Azerbaijani scientist, received the title of science candidate in mathematics. The scientist was the author of over 170 scientific papers, several monographs and textbooks.

It was noted that, in 1939, under the supervision of the well-known Soviet mathematician Academician A.Gelfond, I.Ibrahimov defended his Ph.D and in 1946 - a doctoral thesis. The scientist has achieved classical results in the field of the mathematical analysis by a research of integrity of some systems constructed by means of analytical functions.

In 1955 publeshed his textbook "Fundamentals of the theory of numbers", 1957 - "Fundamentals of the theory of order", 1962 - "Course of mathematical analysis." In 1950-1952 Academician translated into Azerbaijani language books for higher education institutions "Differatsialny account" and "Integrated Account" written by C. Rossi and I.Privalov.

I.Ibrahimov was the Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Academy of Azerbaijan Sciences, President of Azerbaijan Mathematical Society.

Speakers at the event spoke about his contribution to the Azerbaijani science of mathematics, and noted that, the rich heritage of the scientist for many years will be investigated.
