ANAS held presentation of books on the Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus history

ANAS Central Scientific Library of ANAS under organization of the Embassy of the Lithuania Republic to our country held presentation of the books of the Lithuanian historian, Professor Algimantas Liekis, "The Resettlement of Peoples to the Caucasus. XX century" and journalist Gintaras Visoska "The Tragedy of the Black Garden" on March 15.

ANAS Representatives and other state organizations took part in the presentation.

Opening the event, Academician-Secretary of ANAS Department of Social Sciences, corresponding member of ANAS Nargiz Akhundova spoke about the significance of these works, which contain important facts about the history of Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus as a whole, and the features of their idea and content, which have great historical significance.

Then, Lithuanian journalist, founder and editor of the Internet portal www.slaptai.lt Gintaras Visotskas and Professor Algimantas Liekis told about the creation of their works. The authors spoke about historical facts related to the South Caucasus, and draw parallels, telling about similar events in the history of Azerbaijan and Lithuania.

At the presentation it was noted that these books were published last year. The work "Resettlement of peoples to the Caucasus.XX century" was published in Lithuanian and Russian, "The Tragedy of the Black Garden" is in Lithuanian.

It was noted that, these works contain historical facts that testify to the relocation of Armenians from Turkey and Iran two centuries ago to the territory of Azerbaijan and the South Caucasus. It tells about the terrorist war conducted by Armenian terrorist organizations against Azerbaijan, about their occupation policy and crimes.

At the presentation reported Kamran Nabizade head of the Azerbaijan-Lithuania interparliamentary relations working group, Doctors of History Sciences Irada Bagirova and Sevinj Alieva, PhD in History Ilgar Niftaliev and others, who spoke about the threat posed by Armenia's aggressive policy for the states of the region and obstacles on the way Gaining stability in the region. They highly appreciated these works, calling them a model of historical research.

Participants of the event also got acquainted with the stand "The contribution of diplomatic missions to the intercultural dialogue", created in the Central Scientific Library for diplomatic missions.
