Lankaran was one of the most affected by Armenian dashnaks’ abuse. Totally, 40 settlements in Lankaran and surrounding areas were destroyed by burning, more than 2,000 civilians have been killed, he stated.

Later on, Director of the Institute of History corresponding member of ANAS Yagub Mahmudov noted that, “Azerbaijan is one of the peoples in the world, subjected to the terrible genocides” and delivering objective truths to the world public is the key target before scientists.

The director of the institute noted that today the world faces extremely complex and extremely dangerous confrontations. In Europe, where the first and second world wars started, which caused the death of millions of people, unimaginable destruction and disasters, fascism, racism, and Islamophobia are reviving again. Under the guise of "human rights," "democracy," "protection of international law," "the fight against terrorism," large power centers in fact condone genocide and terror, are fighting for a new division of the world into spheres of influence.

"By raising multiculturalism to the level of state policy in our country, President Ilham Aliyev presented to the whole world the realities of Azerbaijan as a model. From this point of view, international conferences on the theme of genocide, with the participation of historians from all over the world, held annually in our country on the initiative and under the patronage of President Ilham Aliyev, play an important role in revealing historical realities, enriching historical science with new facts and scientific generalizations,” said Y. Mahmudov.
