Baku State University (BSU) held Republican scientific and methodological conference "Year of Islamic solidarity 2017: realities, perspectives".

Speaking at the event, rector of BSU, Academician Abel Maharramov noted the great importance of the Order of President Ilham Aliyev on the announcement the 2017 the Year of Islamic Solidarity in the country. Noting that, election of Azerbaijan as a member of the Islamic Cooperation Organization, ISESCO, as well as other authoritative structures that unite Muslim countries were established mutually beneficial relations with the Islamic world, the academician stressed that our country is the organizer of cultural forums of global significance.

State Councilor for Interethnic Issues, Multiculturalism and Religion of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Kamal Abdullayev and Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations Mubariz Gurbanli, who spoke at the plenary session, spoke about the significance of the conference and articles submitted to the sectional meetings, including the transformation of the person enjoying great authority in the Islamic world of Azerbaijan in the space of dialogue between civilizations.

At the conference the dean of the faculty of theology of BSU, Academician Vasim Mammadaliyev made a report on the topic "Islamic solidarity is one of the most necessary requirements of the modern world".

It should be noted that more than 200 reports were heard at the conference, which continued to work in six sections.
