Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences

In Vienna, the capital of Austria, the meeting of the General Assembly of the European Union of Geosciences (EGU2017) takes place.

Academician-Secretary of the Division of Earth Sciences of ANAS, Academician Fakhraddin Gadirov, Director General of the Republican Center of Seismological Survey, corresponding member of ANAS Gurban Yetirmishli, Head Department of the Center, Ph.D. in Geological and Mineralogical Sciences Sabina Kazimova, Head of the Department of Seismology and Seismic Hazard of the Institute of Geophysics and Geology, PhD in Geology and Mineralogy, Associate Professor Gulam Babayev. And in the assembly section of students of the EGU-17 takes part a student of BSU and a member of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics Elvin Babayev.

The purpose of the conference is to unite scientists in the field of Earth sciences from around the world and discuss the achievements and scientific innovations.

Separate sections dedicated to seismology and geodynamics were held at the event, as well as a wide exchange of views on modern research, current problems and prospects in the field of Earth sciences.

Within the framework of the conference, representatives of ANAS met with officials of the companies "Kinemetriks" USA and "Guralp Systems Limited" of the United Kingdom and got acquainted with technologies that measure seismic waves and general fluctuations of the Earth's crust.

The conference will run until April 28.
